I thought I will put a separate topic on benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and how to use it as we all know about it but never how to use it properly

ACV is an effective remedy and is regularly recommended by avian vets, often when the control of yeast in the body is needed, during or after the coarse of antibiotics. ACV helps to reduce the yeast by creating unwelcoming environment for its development without harming the bird. There are drugs which could be used for this problem but obviously ACV is a lot safer and often as effective (but always consult your avian vet of course, this is just an example!)
How to pick ACV (from HBD's Avian Examiner 1-12, can be found on Harrisons Bird Foods website):
Make sure the vinegar is made from organic apples, the apples should be table grade. The best vinegar is aged in wood barrels (not plastic or metal ones).
Make sure there is sediment ("mother") at the bottom of the vinegar bottle. If there isn't any, then the best part has been filtered out. Choose unfiltered, unpasteurized ACV.
Some uses suggested in the Avian Examiner:
- One teaspoon per pint drinking water controls most gram-negative and yeast problems without medication.
- To make legumes more digestible splash a little ACV in the pot when cooking dried beans
- 4-5 ml of ACV added to an ounce of a heparin/aloe product prevents the growth of mold (on surfaces, etc.)
Here is an example of a good ACV (from my local health food shop but can be purchased online, for example here

Here is the link to how ACV could be used for other animals too
