Any Ideas People??
« on: October 09, 2011, 09:15:14 PM »

Hiya everyone, as you probably know both my boys are on Harrisons pellets but they also get veg daily, fruit as a treat, palm fruit extract on toast etc etc.
The problem is, I think they need a bit more variety in their main diet. If I were to buy another bag of food to mix into their Harrisons o give them a bit of variety, which sort do you think I should go for???
I've tried Nutribird but that didn't go down very well. Today I gave them a desert spoonful of seed and Charlie wolfed it but Dexter didn't care for it.
I just want to offer them something a bit different.they have also had the coloured fruit shaped biscuit type food but they threw them out of their dish for the dogs.
I was going to try those garlic sticks but not sure??? Any advice people?????

Hi Jo
Why not try a different type of pellet and then you know they are still getting everything they need when they aren't having Harrisons. I've just bought some hagens tropican lifetime. I bought a bag of small pellets and a bag of sticks and they seem to like them both. They were from scarletts and a 2kg bag of small pellets was £8.99 and a 700g bag of sticks was £4 ish. They are a complete food and make a change I suppose

My two love garlic sticks Jo
I used to buy them separate, but they are in the bags of tidymix seed mix, as are nuts, banana chips, dried fruit etc

Have you tried making the bird bread? That way you can mix loads of different stuff in with it and make it different every time

Hi Liz I have tried bird bread and they get fed up of that after a while. I have to keep varying their diet every day although I make sure I feed them Harrisons first thing in the morning and last thing at night as this is when they are most hungry.

I am thinking about garlic sticks for them, I placed an order with Scarlett and ordered some different food and the soaked seeds so at least there's a bit of variety there. They have also enjoyed cooked pasta and those little chantilly carrots today so fingers crossed we just might be going forward.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
