Asparagus
« on: October 23, 2011, 12:02:47 PM »

just read another post where it said asparagus isn't good.  I don't know how but I have completely missed this in the past.  Just had a look back over some posts and it seems a bit confused over asparagus.

Asparagus -- Asparagin which gives the characteristic flavour can cause severe stomach upsets in parrots.

hi Anne marie
It is confusing
I do know that asparagus can cause severe stomach upset in parrots due to the fact it contains Asparagin. Do a google on "Asparagin Parrots" to get some details on it
this is why i put it down as unsafe if theres any doubt

From what I have read asparagus is fine in moderation, contains no toxins....but is hard for them to digest, so small amounts will do no harm, and probably beneficial
