Calcivet Calcium Supplement
« on: October 25, 2011, 09:29:58 AM »

I have some Calcivet Calcium supplement that I have to give Georgie, my 15 week old AG, I have to put 3 drops onto her food twice weekly, i'm not sure how much is a drop, I bought a small syringe dispenser from Boots which has a measuring scale on it up to 1.0ml. Could someone help ?? Thanks  :)

I put a drop or two in marleys water straight from the bottle but if I remember reading correctly if they're on pellets they dont need it.

If your bird is pellet fed ( Harrisons  )you should have no need to give  Georgie  calcivet  :nono:. If Georgie is seed fed well then yes a few drops in the water eg 10/20mils of calcivet to 1litre of water  given 1/2 days a week  .  But if she is seed fed i would deffo be thinking of coverting her while shes young  then she shouldnt need any supplements as Harrisons is a complete feed

Was the Calcivet recommended by the vets? Does the bottle have an "open" neck or a wee dispenser on it. When I gave it (I don't anymore because she's on pellets) I could just squeeze the bottle and a drop came out the top.

I give her a mixture of seeds and kaytee exact pellets which I got when I bought her, I think she enjoys the seeds more than the pellets though. I was also given the calcivet in the full package

The calcivet has an open neck bottle, I also have parrot palm fruit extract (Rob Harvey) which I give her on a small inch square piece of brown toast, she loves this

If she eats pellets then I wouldn't give a calcium supplement. Too much calcium is as bad as too little. The palm extract is very beneficial though
