Can I Feed Teasel Heads
« on: May 18, 2011, 03:55:36 PM »

Well just been out to feed the chooks and spent a few minutes admiring my garden.
The bind weed is coming along very nicely...the dandelion crop is doing superbly and what was once a lawn is rapidly turning into a meadow.
And as usual I'm going to have a bumper crop of teasel this year. I did plant it originally for
Gold finches but it seems to pop up everywhere.
Has anyone ever fed the heads to their greys?

you can give it to parrots, it is not poisonous or anything, but it could be a bit tricky as it is quite prickly. Here is a bit of info on it too http://www.birds-online.de/nahrung/gruenfutter/wildekarde_en.htm

    Didn't know what a teasel head was and after reading the post have decided that I've slipped into an alternate reality where the letters are familiar but the words just make no sense.

Well as I've never heard of teasel, I assumed you meant a bird named Teasel and was wondering what on Earth you wanted to feed it!

     it's a german website and was translated by someone who obviously didn't have a mind quite as perverse and bizarre as ours!

Top class laugh....... I love this place.
I knew it was German in origin because my sister in law who is German asked me for some seeds from my "pricks" last year so she could plant them. She obviously didn't know how to say " prickly plant" and I nearly died then as well although she would have just punched my lights out if I had of laughed.
