I know there is loads on here regarding pellets !!

Well anyhow my three Dusty the grey, Gizmo and Dexter the ammies are all on tidymix with a selection of vegetables, fruit, nuts etc They do get variety xx

However, Im thinking of converting them to pellets but wondered what was the best approach for all three and how i should convert, know the question has bee asked many times, remember though i have three lol  

I remember when i got Gizmo and she was on harrisons she looked gorgeous and i believe it was the pellets xx

What pellets do you suggest ?? I currently spend approximately twenty five pounds a month on their seed. How much would pellets cost me ?? Thanks xx

I think Mandy will be the best person to ask as she has 3,  my G-g was easy to convert but i know not all are the same
Good luck with the converting, can i ask why you took Dusty off the Harrisons?

I use Harrisons High potency. a 5lb bag is about £30 or just under and Mandy said the other day that i lasts about 2 -2 1/2 weeks with her 3 greys.

I mised pellets and seed toghether in their bowl and over a 10 day period just reduced the amount of seed until it was only pellets. It took a couple of days for her to try it but we've never looked back. You could also try offering only pellets in the morning and then giving other stuff a bit later to encourage them to try them.  Good luck

liz the rumours wrong hun when i went to pet shop other day they rung there supplier and they said that it isnt getting discontinued xxxx

where is the best place to get harrisons ??

i use chemist direct, its £22 a 5lb bag and if you order 2 bags postage is free 
a 5lb bag i think lasts around 2.5 to 3wks, but when i open my next bag im gonna start writing it down when its opened and when i finish it

when i converted to pellets mixing wasnt working so i used seperate bowls,
 i suggest putting the reccomended seed (i think its 2 spoons) in first thing, leave for a hr then remove and put pellets in for the rest of the day , then replace the seed evening meal

my sisters ammie took longer to convert but she put palm oil on them and he took to them more or less straight away

Oh I do hope thats right, out of the three different pellets I give Blue Hagens are his favorite !!

so is it adult lifetime coarse with the red label i try for converting ? Im thinking of doing it gradually over the next month to see xx as for hagens how much do they cost and what type kind should i try ? Do people mix pellets as well ??

Pauline, the best brands are Harrison's, ZuPreem, and Hagen

Harrison's is the most expensive. Gizmo, should easily go back on to them if she's had them before, but be warned Ammies are harder to convert to Harrison's, so fingers crossed she'ls not too used to seed

Greys, should be on high potency for life with no seed, but you can give the lifetime if you want to give a veriety of different foods

You could start by crushing the pellets and mixing it with mash, so they get used to the taste, or you can offer seed for 3o mins in the morning, then give them pellets, then offer a little seed again in the afternnon taking it away after 20 mins, and giving them back the pellets, then doing the same in the evening. Everyday you can reduce the amount of time that they have the seed.

Just be sure to weigh them every other day

Thanks for your replies, right ive ordered some harrisons high potency pellets and should have them tomorrow or Wed from my vet. I work full time so im going to do what Liz done leaving some mixed in with seed to see. Ive decided although my birds are well looked after and eat a good diet, im motivated for them to try pellets that will hopefully help in particular Gizmos continuous molting xx

I was thinking about doing the three of them separate but will try converting them altogether at the same time. Whats the email address for Chemist Direct cant seem to find it  Crysxx

Ammies are High potency for 6 months because they were on seeds before then just lifetime course
