mashed potatoe is not very nutritious so it's best not to overdo it, but if on occasion he eats a bit it is not a big deal. As for the egg it is a bit too high in protein but again, on occasion a bit of egg is ok. I give Digby now a boiled organic egg regularly because it's good for the liver. But if you are planning on feeding pellets there is no need in it as such.

any pictures? just googled red speckled beans and it just looks like a variety of kidney bean. Kidney beans are quite hard on digestion and have to be very thoroughly cooked beforehand, but probably easier not to use them at all.
By sugar bean, do you mean this one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaseolus_lunatus

again, hard on digestions, so best to avoid.

They are fine to use once they have defrosted

Cook them the same way as you would cook them for yourself but don't add any butter, salt etc

That's a great list,as a new afri owner it's very helpful
I have a noobie question about corn on the cob
Is it ok to feed raw? Or does it always have to be cooked?
Also is the tinned variety ok so long as its thoroughly washed first?
Thanks xx

Hi Angii
It's fine raw or cooked, mine love both  I give the tinned sweet corn occasionally too but yes, rinse well first. Mine also love baby sweet corn

Hi Tony :hiya

You might want to start your own post as you will get more response that way

I feed with bowls, there are others that feed a more natural way which is the foraging method to keep their birds stimulated.

It all depends on what you try and what works best for you and Mamadou
