loads of money
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:37:42 AM »

I've been looking at a sprouter but there cost so much money for what they are. Does anybody use anything else. I thought an icing/flour shaker but the sprouts are not as spread out as they are on the base of the bowl. Does this matter if i'm rinsing alot  :blah:

I've got a Vogel sprouter and use it every day ,but it's only a jar with a lid. I bought 2 wide jars from a pound shop and just put a bit of muslin on top so the water can drain out . . I used to have a 3 tiered one but I prefer the jars as its easier to rinse them.

hi Lydia

you don't need to buy a special sprouter . seeds and pulses will sprout in just about anything, a glass jar like a jam jar or bigger  if you sprout a lot all i use is the plastic food containers are there called Tupperware or something like that basically anything like that. its easy, here's a link to show you how easy it is

Hi Lydia
As John says, you don't need any specialised equipment for sprouting.  It really is so easy, and the link should explain how to do it.

If you have any questions tho - just ask away.

I soak my sprouting seeds overnight, and rinse them off in clean water.

I then put some damp kitchen roll on the base of a dish, and also put tome wet kitchen roll on top to keep everything moist/humid.  After a day or two, they soon start to sprout.  And to slow down the sprouting process once they have started, pop them in the fridge.

Sprouted seeds are packed with valuable nutrients for Boo, and he woill benefit greatly from them
