OMG He Is Eating A Pellet
« on: June 04, 2011, 07:30:25 PM »

Whoop whoop, Casper is sitting here eating a pellet!!!! Well he is destroying it and its falling to the floor but some is going in!!!! I can't believe I am so giddy. That's all he has had for his tea with about 6 seeds in there. He hasn't continued but he has had 2 in his foot.

Now have to face 2nd round of out of cage time with a hungry bird. He can be really nippy. He has only been out for a couple of hours this morning and all afternoon in the garden. Should I keep his seeds really low now or just do this type of meal once a day

And no farts Anne-Marie

I wouldn't reduce the seeds too much till he is eating them properly, I used to remove everything apart from pellets in the afternoon, it worked for a bit

Mojo and Shinda started on the Harrisons HP Course. I then tried them on some HP Fine to cut down on waste but they didn't like it. Po LOVES the fine (as seen in my video in this section somewhere) and now Mojo and Shinda have decided they do too!

So I'm probably going to stick to buying the Harrisons HP Fine now, there's definitely less waste with it. Just had a big bag delivered, I bag it up into several smaller zip food bags, squeeze the air out and keep them in the fridge.

Henry for now only enjoys the Hagen Tropican but it's a start and is better than seed I guess!

I must stress they all get a wide variety of fresh foods too! My motivation for wanting to convert them to Harrisons is that I feel using liquid/powder supplements is a hit and miss way of ensuring they get all the vits/minerals they need and fresh veg/fruit very quickly loses it's nutritional content once harvested, even though it still tastes yummy!

I only buy the fine, less waste and keeps them occupied eating the smaller pieces, and they ate it readily.
