I came across a website this evening, and really it was because of Mandys post about the beautiful Sam that she is looking after. It shows, what I think is a brilliant idea - a foraging bowl full of edible spices for Macaws.

I'm going to try a smaller version for Dave and Swazi aswell

Also, if you didn't already know - cinnamon sticks make great treats for your Greys, and you can bundle some together and hang it in their cage for them to play with and chew on. It is said to be a great treatment for Greys against fungal infections too, even aspergillosis !

Also, using cinnamon sticks will also make your room smell nice too! How cool is that.

oooooh great

We have a very very big bag of large cinnamon stick roll things (from Chinese cash and carry) and a couple of kilos dried chilli's. Guess what will be making it into my diy parrot toy box tomorrow

Great idea tezza , I saw that on another site as well .the powder stuff is great on the fruit and its really good for them.

Hi Karen, I put powdered cinnamon in my birdie mash, and would never have thought to use it as a stick, making it into a toy etc. But when I saw the beautiful Sam, I went looking at macaw sites, as I so would love one myself, and that site came up. Has great info and ideas, and can easily be used in a scaled down version for greys. And what a natural room refresher too

specially with Christmas coming up

I'll have a go at that one for the Hobbits as I often use spices in foods for them.

You can get cinnamon sticks at Asda or online, but if you get them online, make sure they are the edible ones for human consumption

I get mine cinnamon at Sainsburys John, but I think most big supermarkets sell them, also, lots of food Market stalls have them

thanks for the heads up on this one guys, popped two cinnamon sticks into Rube's foraging bucket last night and she spent the whole day rooting them out and destroying them, living room smells very festive
