All my birds were adults and over 10 years old, and they're all on pellets and enjoy them, and would not consider one minute giving them c rap to eat, Billy will flourish on a good diet, as will all living things.

When we got Bilbo we just stopped and gave him Frodo's pellets and he loves them, although we got Bilbo when he was still young only a few months old

I see no reason why you should not try a better diet, can i ask if Billy is fattish ? I had a bird rescued some years back fed on a bad diet and she was very broad below the crop area "chest" and was a terrible flyer always short of breath on the smallest of flights, she was about 8 years old i changed or tried to change her diet and it took many months but we did get there in the end but the weight took ages to drop off and her plumage improved too.

Its always worth trying to get them on a better diet if you can do.

I would still give some seed until he is eating the pellets Karen, like you say 20 years is a long time, sure you will get there though

I would say slowly. If he likes the B.B. great and I'm sure you'll get there with the pellets

I took all the seeds off Digby straightaway. I don't see a problem with stopping feeding a high-fat diet, especially if he is loving his bird bread. But theres is nothing wrong in giving a bit of seed mix, especially if you pick the sunflower seeds and nuts out

But aren't they the best bits Irina, might as well not give him seed if im taking them out.   There are pellets in the BB, i think maybe at night as bob said put a small amount in just incase he gets the midnight munchies, and keep with all the healthy stuff during the day,  will this be ok?
