Any ideas what it means?
« on: January 18, 2012, 08:13:35 AM »

Just wondering if you had any ideas,  last night Myrtle was in her cage on her perch with her wings stretched out fully, all fluffed up, scooping water out of her water bowl and throwing it everywhere with a really sweet little chirp and dancing, was she just playing?  It was really sweet to watch her and she wasn't in any distress, she was clearly enjoying herself, does any body elses do this?  She has never done it before. Afraid I  couldn't film it as by the time I thought about doing it she had stopped. Thanx guys x

Milo scuttled across the cage last night and did something similar..
He'd heard me running the tap to brush my teeth
Elaine found this interesting
His version of getting ready for bed...possibly
Seemed to spend alot of time on cleaning his beak
Funny little creatures

Hi Sara,
Yes, Myrtle is just telling you she wants a bath; so you should spray her with plain water when she does this. Greys should be spayed several times a week to keep their feathers in good condition.

All three of my Hobbits do this, they love water play. I spray mine daily as they love it and I also pop large lasagna dishes in their cages with toys and bottle tops in for them to play in at least once a week

Marley does it all the time even after I've showered him, it's madness to watch but if he's happy then I let him get on with it.

:ty Bless her, nice to see her acting normally at last,  @greg: I spray her every day in a morning, but she was doing it just before bedtime last night so didn't want to spray her then, didn't want her to get cold overnight, she was probably just having a wash before bed then lol. All these things are new to me as she hasn't really done much of anything since I have had her, it is so nice to see her coming out of her shell, she must be liking it here with us, I hope so anyway.  Thanx everyone for your replies x
