Apathetic
« on: August 30, 2016, 06:52:11 AM »

Harry is 16 years and Toon is 15 years.
They are my kids and I have them from the age that they were 5 weeks old.
Harry is disabled. The breeder has dropped him as a chick, making his pelvic was broken. I  found out when I had him a week or two. The breeder said I could bring him back and exchange him for another. But that I have not done ..... I could not miss him anymore. I have Harry learn to climb and learned how much he could do, despite that he actually has only one good paw. He's sooooooooooo sweet. I do have a question about Harry and I hope you can tell me more about this. Sometimes Harry is apathetic. (But when he is not, he plays, talks, he whistles.) But when he is apathetict he is completely silent and self-absorbed. It is as if he is sleeping with his eyes open. He does not responded or not on my vote even though I stand in front of him. I realy have to  touch him to get him back to be allert. He has this already from the beginning. He is completely healthy (also Toon is healthy). They are regularly tested for diseases and  also get a regular check of the bird doctor. I am terminally ill and sometimes I have to stay in the hospital for a while........ but then Harry would not eat.
Do you please have some advice for me about Harry.
Also, I have a question about Toon, but that I ask next time.

Greetings, Marileen, Harry, Toon and Bob.

Full marks to you with patience and understanding you have had with Harry.
Do you mean he becomes mesmerized, for a period of time .
If so ours often  do it too. eg Where they go into a little world of their own.
Who looks after your birds when you have to go into hospital ? and do they stay in your home  or do they have to stay with someone else.

Yes that's  what I mean. It's like he is hypnotized.
Anthony (my son) lives with me, and if I stay in the hospital, he takes care of Harry, Toon and Bob.
Anthony has to give me a call when I'm in the hospital, so I can talk to Harry by the phone.
Usually, Harry begins eat. But if the phone call is stopped, then he does'n want to eat anymore.
