Baby biting
« on: February 06, 2015, 08:49:57 AM »

Hi guys hope you can help me . Smokey will be 1 in June and he is truly amazing. From a baby he always preferred being on my shoulder as he feels safer there. I didn't mind this . My children who are 10 and 14 love him but he really doesn't like them. He will jump on there head then go to bite them on there face. Am really worried as I want them all to bond. Please can you tell me what to do that will help.xx am worried he will really hurt them . I envisaged that he would like us all but he seems to tolerate them sometimes then just turn and bite. Am not sure if he is playing or not but this can't go on.

its very unlikely that he will like all of you, they mostly have one person that it their own, and everyone else will be tolerated.

He is very young and my Yvie went through a phase of biting me, which lasted for months, it was mostly a testing/teething type of thing, but it was quite hard to live with. You've also got the terrible two's to deal with!

its highly likely that they will not be able to handle him. This is how greys are, it's quite a rarity that greys will go to anyone. My Yvie will be 4 at the end of the year and she's much more laid back and doesn't go to bite anyone, but there's only me who can handle her.

its so upsetting sometimes as i'd love my family to be able to hold and play with Yvie, but it's just not something she'll allow.

at least they can share in her funny antics though :)

I know the feeling there. Smokey is so funny at times I just wish he would let someone else play with him a bit as well. His trick at the mo end is to hang upside down on my hand so I twist him over til he is on his back and tickle his tummy.

You just have to enjoy him strawbs, he's here on his terms :) that's how it's should be really, they aren't domesticated, so we should be honoured that they'll tolerate any of us I guess :)
