Baby got the grumps
« on: December 16, 2014, 01:10:31 PM »

So after decorating a room in the house, we moved furniture around.

As a result Baby is now going through a grumpy time (just like when African Greys are moulting).

Has anyone else had this ?
How long have they had the grumps for ?

If he is in his cage, he is his usual self.
It seems to be only me (his care giver) that he is moody with.

as a side note, If I take him in this new room he gets a bit nervous and starts to shake a little. poor thing. looks like I will have to introduce him gradually to this room.

To me greys are all different in the respect that some are a lot more confident with changes & new things then others. We have one that is really confident & not much phases him in any way  :nono:. Yet we have a hen that if you give her a new toy she will cower away from it for days & days . If we put it straight in the cage without a gradual introduction she would sit there & pluck :panic:

baby seemed to have perked up last night so maybe he's getting used to furniture in different places.
I know some other owners have said how phobic African Greys can be, I guess this example confirms it.
He's fine in himself and was back to his usual self last night wanting lots of head scratches.

oh they are such a pain, my Yvie has had some sort of issue for the last few weeks. When I go to take her out of her cage when I get home, she's terrified of me, she'll literally scream and run away. She'd also do it at random times.

I was convinced there was something that only she could see upsetting her!

anyway, i'd bought a new pendant necklace, I took that off to see if it was that, there was nothing else at all changed.

She's fine now, god knows what put her in that mood! Maybe it was something only she can see!
