Bedtime issues....
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:13:53 AM »

Every night (since the first week we got Darwin), when it's lights out Darwin acts like a 2 year old child.  Screeches and runs wildly around his cage out of control.  It's normal for him so I'm not concerned, just wondering if any of yours do the same.  (Darwin appalls a cage cover so he sleeps in the living room with 2 small led night lights and nothing else).

Why does he have the night lights?  I'm asking because there are some light fittings that aren't good for birds, they create a strobe atmosphere and I don't know if LED would be that kind of bulb.  What happens when you cover him?

Mine don't do that, they do chunter for a bit, but once they are covered completely they are very quiet, apart from the odd "hello" if they hear us

Mine don't do that either - covers go on and they go to bed (although like Julie's hobbits they do chatter away for 10mins or so)

charlie wasnt used to be covered when i got him but as his cage is in the livingroom and i love my evenings i started covering him
and its the best thing ever  :yahoo: im so glad i kept it up
he used to run around, talk AND SHOUT for ages before he settled down but slowly slowly he have calmed down and now he will be quiet the second the cage is covered.
BUT IT DID TAKE A LONG TIME
