Dive bombing
« on: October 05, 2016, 08:26:46 PM »

Our pennys dive bombing my wife. Every time my wife opens cage penny rushed out and flys at her head. Penny's 8 month now and only bonded with me. My wife and children give penny treats every day. My wife is the only person who lets penny out of the cage. And the only person who feeds her.
So why she bonded to me and getting more agressive to my wife who feeds her and treats her.
Penny so tame to me I can't get my head around it and worried pennys going to cause wife some damage one day

Hi ,
It's common and very normal for them to bond with one person just as they would in the wild
For the first year they stay with mum and then they choose a mate later on and that's usually for life
So once your grey matures she may change her alliance and prefer your wife
These are the times that are trying to owners that don't know what's happening and this is why so many are rehomed.
Maybe you can let her out so your wife can stand back a little and learn to read your birdie so she can try and avoid it xx

Luckily mine has bonded with me and will dive bomb my other half, he has learnt (pretty quickly!!) to not react in any way when he flies near, otherwise it becomes a good game - he will often get flicked in the head by his wings
