FEMALE GREY NESTING

Hi ya everybody i am new 2 the forum but have got a few questions at the moment my female pieffer is shredding the paper in the bottom of her cage and puffing it up so 2 speak is this normal behaviour and is there anything i should look out 4 or b careful of any and all advice will b very much appreciated ... :ty :ty :ty :ty :ty

Hi Delboy and welcome.

Yes to a certain extent it is but it's also better to create an environment that isn't beneficial to nesting. Exactly what that is, isn't clear cut. First and foremost is to make sure it's not a human that's bonding. I've had 1 bad year with my hen, couldn't quite put my finger on why.

Egg binding is something you don't want to encounter, so by creating an environment where a hen doesn't want to lay it's better for them and us.

Not sure on age if still young wouldn't worry too much but be aware. Also be very aware she's not overbonding with any family members. More parrot problems are due to this more than anything else.

Edit caught the other one.. She's probably reached maturity. You've also got a boy, I've got an unbonded pair. Slightly more complex situation then.

Hi ya thanks 4 the advice will defo keep an eye on her we have had experience with birds becoming egg bound in the past as we youst 2 have a couple of budgies and 1 became egg bound and we lost her so don't want 2 go through that again .. :crossed
