Help, Harli being naughty :-)
« on: January 27, 2016, 07:29:31 AM »

Hoping for bit of advice/reassurance from more experienced owners. Harli is 5 1/2 months now and although he is happy for me to attend to his every whim he has always been a Daddy's boy (or girl).

Last week Hubby had major surgery on his shoulder and was in hospital for two nights which obviously affected Harli's routine.

Since then (Sunday) Harli will fly straight to his dad for a cuddle and chat but after that will keep flying over and trying to bite his hand quite hard. He says no in a firm voice but as his other arm is strapped up he only has one hand and is unable to make him step up so Harli gets really excited and will hang in his hand biting. This isn't too bad if I am home as I put him in cage for quick time out with firm 'no bite' but really difficult whilst I am at work.

He is used to being out a lot during day and Hubby doesn't want to keep him in cage whilst I am out but we could do with some suggestions

Sorry for long post, hoping just reaction to Daddy changing routine but will have his arm Immobilised for 6 weeks so need a cunning plan :-)

I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to the arm being strapped up i'm guessing, Harli won't understand it at all. I think once the strapping is off he'll be back to normal.

They really can't cope with change so well! :D

Hi

Kazky is probably right when I broke my ankle 2 years ago Mamadou went off his food and wouldn't talk and generally wasn't his normal self for about 4 days to counteract it I just wore tracksuit bottoms which wasn't easy shorts was obviously better but it helped Mamadou get back to normal so it was worth it.

When Irene had her first mastectomy 13 yrs ago I think you can well imagine the  massive upset in our home  :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:
Tim plucked herself really badly  and went very quiet :cry2: :cry2:

They are quite sensitive little souls aren't they? I'm hoping Harli will settle again now your hubby, and don't forget Harlis dad too, is back at home. Bet he's missed him no end, and I bet Harli wondered where his dad went  :cheekkiss:

So hubbys shoulder is strapped? I feel too this is why he's biting a bit, as he's not used to this strange thing that his dad came back with, I'm sure once he gets used to it he will settle x

THanks All for the support. He seems to be settling a bit but is definatley not happy with Daddy for leaving him as he is not doing his usual welcome when he sees him.

The biting has reduced significantly and Hubby is using bits of almond basically as bribes to win him back, seems to be working slowly

Now realise we will never have another holiday lol
