what does an african grey 'eek' sound mean
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:45:38 PM »

ok not a behavioural issue but more so a question.

each night when we go to bed my other half sings to 'baby' softly.
each and every night 'baby' on his sleepy perch will do a high pitched 'eek' sound that can be quite loud along with bending forward over his perch with his head upside down and one wing lifted up.

obviously he is really happy but what does it all mean ?

After that my other half walks off and says 'night night'.
baby replies with 'night night darlin. i love you'
soppy thing
I could possibly get a video but the quality will not be good as it's quite dark.

I find certain settings seem to go through a set pattern. Willow has one for me if I get in early enough he quite often says hello and flies to me for a tickle whilst my bag, collar coat gets chewed as I take it off.

I really do think of them as drama junkies. And predictable drama is the best better still if they think they instigate it.

Think you have a slight flock(Night) call, I get the odd one when I sneak in. Used to be the McDonald's whistle now changing to ttt ttt, I just start it.

You mean like a screech sound? Jasper does it when she hears Tony in another room, when he's not in she will screech after me if I leave the room for longer than she thinks is acceptable lol. Just lately she's been screeching early in the morning, especially if the sun is shining, as I don't cover her x

Either baby is getting excited or its her call to say night nights x

I think it's excitement.

he bends right over his perch with his wing raised up like 'tickle me here' type of thing.

never does it with me but only with my other half
