Games to play?
« on: February 19, 2014, 10:17:12 PM »

Do you play games with your birds? I've been off work this week and I noticed the I don't actually play with Yvie much, I chatter to her all the time & every night we have some tickle & play time before we get a shower, but I wonder if there's anything else I can do or play to entertain & enrich her time.

What sort of things do you do? I'd welcome ideas & suggestions :)

Pat has put some training vids on forum
They a great watch

Ooooh I play with my lot a fair bit, but not games as such....

I play screams with Barney, I scream, then he screams and vice versa :loud

I play put up ya dukes with Lady and a Tug O War  catfight:

I seem to chase Bert round her tree all the time lately, and all she does is come back for more......... :run

Haydes, he like the hoover game......

I hoover, and swings from a toy and bites me......

Catches me out EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!! :o

I play Peek a boo and It's not yours it's mine...

You probably play more than you think you do

I'm not a fan of training other than for 2 things.... Step Up and Recall, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. They may love it

yeah i'm not keen on the training either Soo, it always seems a little pointless and a little unfair, but it might entertain Yvie for a minute

We play peek a boo with our birds... They love it! We also have play time on the floor a lot as they like mooching about down there...I get all the foot toys out for them to play with but then I also cut up newspaper squares and put a couple of seeds in an scrumple them up an hide them places like just under the couch so they can still reach them or in foot toys...We play hide an seek with them too, it's usually go find dad then we have a lil celebration dance when we find Paul haha...another thing but not really a game, they like coming into the conservatory, I open all the blinds wide so they can see the whole garden and I ask them to spot the wild birdies, they just have a good nose in the garden through the window an then when they see a wild bird they make a tweet tweet noise hehe...poppy also loves a good sing song lol...she proper gives it beans dancing an tries to song with me, never makes sense though haha x

Reading this, I never realised how much I do play with Barnacle. :big grin:

We have a sing song, which usually end up with me laughing and then him.
He likes to hang upside down from my elbow which doesn't last long as I don't have the strength in my arms to hold them out anymore.
He's also got a thing about plimsoles, which are really popular in this house, but they have to have feet in them or he's not interested...

Gizmo likes to play a throwing game, she sits on the table I throw an item to her (normally a sock) and she throws it back but she likes to try and get it as far away as possible then laughs when I have to go and fetch it. she also joins in with little "whooooooooo" noises when she does a good throw haha.

She also likes the 'rings game' like this one:   http://scarlettsparrotessentials.co.uk/rings_game  she cant do the colours yet but she can stack the rings back on the holder.
She likes any of the puzzle games where she has to work to get the treats out.

I play peek a boo and sometimes I like to throw a rattle ball to him and he throws it back at me. And sometimes we imitate each other! I pretend to yawn and he does it too!

I started throwing a piece of rolled up kitchen roll for Yvie and she wasn't over keen but it was hilarious, she jumped up in the air to catch it & went 'woo-ooo' but then ran away when it went near her, we didn't play it for long :D
