Toys - Too Much Change?
« on: July 27, 2010, 08:53:51 AM »

Hi everyone, hope you and your feathered friends are well.

Paolo doesnt seem himself lately, he is eating ok, although slightly less than usual, drinking ok and making as much noise and fuss as usual. Its just that ive noticed that he isnt playing during the day when we are out of the house. Usually after being alone for a few hours, we get home and his cage is in a right ol' pickle, bits of everything shredded everywhere. But this past week his toys have remained untouched.

I have sooo many toys that I circulate every week or so, but im wondering if I need to keep them in longer for a week? Is he getting freaked out by too much change? He is never reluctant to go back in his cage (unless im reading my book in which case he is alwasy desperate to stay out and shred that!) so I dont think he is scared or anything? Any suggestions as to whats up with him? Or am I just being slightly paranoid?!  :panic:

On a different note, he bit me REALLY hard on the bridge of my nose 2 days ago and made me cry! Haha, and I was left with 2 really big dents for hours! I now think that Paolo is definitely a Paula! When alone, we get on great, but as soon as my other half is about he just doesnt want to know me! Sitting next to each other on the sofa, legs up, Paolo sits on my bf's ankles all puffed up, up on one leg and just generally chilling out. I foolishly rested my head on my bf's shoulder and Paolo squawked and launched himself at me and bit my nose  :nono:

Best way to find out if Paolo is a Paula, is to do a DNA test  Greys are known for being one person birds, it might be a safer option to keep him caged while your partner is around :panic: :stretcher:

I swap my toys around once a month, I just think it gives them plenty of time to get used to the new toys, and of course to play and chew them

Is Paolo moulting? He would be grumpy and tired, so less playful if he is :grey:
