New parrot
« on: August 12, 2013, 01:15:07 PM »

I have just got an African grey, she is 8 years old and quite friendly lets me scratch her head through the bars of cage, she came out if the cage for the first time yesterday ( we just got her sat eve) but if I go to pick her up she goes away or she would bite. I don't want to push her as the previous owner said she has never bitten anyone and has been handled by everyone. When we visited her at her home she was wary but find she sat with me and talked no problem . She chats away fine but any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated as I don't want her to become a biter.
Thanks

Hi moira, I dont know if youve posted in another section so ill reply here anyway.

I would let your grey come out by her self, leave her door open and let her explorer in her own time, she will soon settle in, bless her x
