£200 Competition From Easyfundraising.
« on: October 05, 2011, 11:05:09 AM »

There is £200 up for grabs for the Rescue Fund if you make your plea as to why you deserve to win.  I have entered this, so fingers crossed....

Please consider our site to win the £200 from Viking.  People buy African Grey's on a whim because they have seen one sitting in a cage and talking.  There starts the beginning of the Merry Go Round for African Greys.  It gets bought and is a novelty for a few weeks, then when people realise that they don't really start talking much until 12 months, they lose interest, so it's off to home number two, home number two loves the Grey for a while, until it reaches the "terrible twos" and the 2nd owner didn't bargain on being bitten and for the Grey to not actually like them much.  So, off we go again on the merry go round, home number 3 is as determined that the Grey will be ok and "I've always wanted a Grey" what they fail to have been told is that this Grey, has already been passed from home to home and now no longer trusts humans very much at all.  So, the Grey can't be handled, bites a bit, does't do what it's told and is reaching sexual maturity, so hormones are raging.  Off we go again....this time hopefully to African Grey Rescue Centre, where we take in all the Greys that don't trust people, are afraid of people, have been abused by people, shouted at by people and cast aside by people.  Can you see the common denominator, people?  Please help us to help them, they didn't ask to be brought into your home, just like your children didn't ask to be brought into your home, but I would hope that you wouldn't pass your children on.  African Greys have the mentality of a four year old child.  So, you try telling a four year old child that their behaviour is the cause of you giving them away, how can they possibly understand that, they will however, understand that humans are cruel and callous and not to be trusted.  With £200 we can secure yet another cage for yet another rehome Grey that just wants love and understanding out of life. Thank you for reading.

Awww Pat that was so beautifully put, yet to the point, it actually made me feel so sad for the greys.
I hope we win as the birdies will benefit from it

This is how it works, so I presume others can join in and write a bit about why we need the money.......give it a go!

1. Post a comment below to tell us about your cause and why you think they should be Cause of the Month.

2. On Friday October 21st, we’ll announce a shortlist of 10 causes and ask you all to vote for the one you would like to win.

3. The voting closes at Midday (12 noon) on October 31st and the cause with the most votes fairly cast will win a £200 donation from Viking

When it comes to voting........make sure you only vote once.

Votes are limited to one per easyfundraising account. In the event of multiple votes cast from the same easyfundraising account, we will discount the multiple votes. Voting via multiple accounts by an individual will be discounted and all votes cast by that individual being made null and void. Multiple voting by individuals may result in a cause being removed from Cause of the Month.

Great!

I made a comment - before I saw you had added who you supported I'd already put 'AGPC - African Grey Parrot Center' at the top of my comment.

Is this ok??
