Foster home needed for German Shepherd.
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:36:01 PM »

My daughter has got herself into a bit of a sticky situation and urgently needs to foster her dog out for about 4 months, its totally unavoidable unfortunately, she cant come here because my dog just attacks her. I am actually hoping that if she settles in well anywhere that my daughter will let her stay rather than disrupt her bringing her home but that depends on various things. Im willing to pay for food, vets bills etc while shes being fostered. If anyone can help could you please pm me. Thanks.

:panic: :panic: I am sooooo afraid of German Shepherds you wouldn't believe it.  I was attacked by one, it bit me in the stomach, burst an artery and although I said I didn't want the dog to be destroyed it went on to attack someone else, so it had to be put down.  I have had a fear of those dogs ever since.  It's all very well people saying "It won't hurt you!" It might be good with their family but, it don't know me! lol.

I hope you find somewhere soon, is a kennel a possibility?  If you have a look around you could find one that would be willing to do a deal for long term stay.  Just until you daughter gets herself sorted.

Thanks guys,  :cheekkiss: A kennel isnt any good, Shes used to comfort, shes at Kayleighs friends house at the moment, the lass really wanted a dog and she offered a good home, however she doesnt like Evo on the sofa and Evo is crying everynight as shes locked in the kitchen on her own, shes used to going to bed. Shes also 11 and although shes fit and healthy i cant see her being happy with kennels.
Plukie, i dont think i would ever go near any dog again if one had done that to me!  :panic: :panic:

omg plukie thats horrendous!!! A lady up the road  a few years back was in her garden with her little westie when a huge dog (think it was a rotweiler) jumped her 6ft fence and attacked her and her little dog  :panic: :panic: :panic: she said it threw the little dog round like a rag doll then turned on her breaking her arm and thumb. It killed the little dog  :cry2:

OMG!  That must have been horrendous.  You see some of the **wits around here with Staffies on a lead with harnesses to make them look harder and there is just no control over the dogs at all.  I'm very wary of all dogs to be honest, which is a shame because I had a dog for 13 years and loved her to bits, but I swear it's the owners, not the dogs.

I would take her in a heartbeat but I can't come collect unfortunately. If you can get her to me, then I will look after her no probs.

pm for details, im actually getting quite desperate for this dog to go to a decent home, i wont let her go just anywhere as either a foster or permanent rehome. Were all really gutted about this and its a situation i never could see myself in, an animal is for life but i know im pissed now but i would rather see her put down at her age than just let her go somewhere i dont know and let her take her chances. I am willing to take her anywhere as long as shes looked after.

I've sent you a pm, let me know all the details about the dog and if you can get her/him to me then she has a home for life with me and my family. Anything to help.

I have spoken to Kayleigh tonight and told her about the west yorkshire dog rescue, shes not happy about losing her dog permanently but will do whatevers best for Evo, Kayleigh has never lived without at least 2 dogs and finding herself on her own having lost her boyfriend and her other dog due to ill health within a month, moving house and then losing Evo on top is really crippling her. Ive even offered to let her have our remaining family dog that i have when she can move into somewhere that allows dogs and she says she will as long as Evo is ok. The heartbreaking thing is that 5 years ago we were a happy family with 3 dogs until my partner wanted to "experience" life. What you read into that is what he meant. I had to move out as we had remortgaged the house to buy my business. I couldnt take all 3 dogs, i was homeless, penniless, jobless and struggling to keep a business afloat. Kayleigh decided to stay with her stepfather at 16 years old purely because of the other 2 dogs that i really couldnt take, i was only allowed 1 in my rented house, she put up with a lot for their sake til Paul decided he wanted her out. Consequently she managed to get a house with her then boyfriend and take the dogs. 3 months ago he did the same thing to her as Paul did to me. I would love to have Evo here but in the time elapsed Jetta wont tolerate her, weve tried, all it did was get 2 dogs fighting and parrots screaming in fear.

I am so against rehoming and never in a million years thought we would be in this situation, even my horses stay with me for life, i lost 1 last year due to old age and my other ive had for 5 years, shes spent most of that time out on loan cos i felt she was too much for me but never would i have sold her to spend the next 20 years wondering what happened to her.

Awww Debbie, life has a way of kicking you in the teeth when you are down doesn't it?  Well, you must ddo whatever is best for Evo and if at this time, it's rehoming then that is the way to go.  I really hope that it all turns out ok for you and your daughter and of course Evo.  :bighug:
