Harrie has feathers missing.
« on: December 05, 2017, 02:55:25 PM »

Harrie has feathers missing around her bottom. I think she might lay egg soon. I'm now really worried as I'm not going to have the funds to safe her as paid out for funeral :(. Please can anyone tell me what to do.

please try not to worry, as i've said, try to change her world to unsettle her a bit, but even if she lays it doesn't mean she'll be egg bound. Try to calm down, it might be worth speaking to a vet to pre-empt it and ask for help and advice in advance.

When she was egg bound last time was it too soft an egg or too big?

Donít make a nest, That will just encourage her, if sheís going to lay she will, but if you make a nest she definitely will. Thatís ridiculous advice from them.

They donít do it on purpose, it happens if the egg is too large to pass through or if the shell isnít tough enough so they canít lay. They donít try and hold it and if they want to lay it makes no difference if they have a nest or not. Iíve had eggs laid on my shoulder twice, one of my cockatiels just drops an egg wherever sheís stood, my other lays on the floor, on a shelf, I find eggs everywhere.
Leave her and watch her
