Hi I am new to this forum and have had my baby grey almost 2 weeks now . Please can anyone give me some tips on feeding him? I have been giving him Kaytee exact & a good quality pellet mix as advised by the breeder. Rico.. my Grey doesnt seem to have a very high opinion for the Kaytee, preferring the pellet mix & most of his fruit and vegIs it essential he has the Kaytee or can I feed him on the pellets & fuit & veg alone? I also give him Calcivet & Daily Essential 3 twice a week as also advised.
I would be greatful of any advice or tips from your members
Thanks .

Hi and  :hiya
When you say Kaytee exact do you mean the hand rearing formula or the pellets?
What is the other pellet mix you feed and does he eat them readily?
How old is he now?

Kaytee are not the best of pellet, maybe you could try another brand such as Harrisons High Potency or Hagens Tropican. Kaytee contain a lot of artificial colours etc..

Hi and thanks for the welcome and answers to my post. Rico is 3and a half months old now.
The food I have for him that I have at present is what came with him from the breeder, so apart from the Kaytee mix I don't know what pellet mix it is .I was just advised to get a good quality parrot mix.The Kaytee is a multi-coloured mix almost like dried cat food in appearance. He loves the sunflower seeds and he will eat most fruit or veg ...I have been trying small bits of each mixed together and have varied what I give him every couple of days .Is the Kaytee or equivalent of necessary?
Thanks for your advice  :)

That depends on what the other pellets are, if he is eating the Kaytee them stick with it for now, any pellets are better than none
Good that he is eating fruit and veg, veg is the more important..give the fruit a bit more sparingly.

Good advice from Bob. Also have a read through the diet section, there is loads of good advice there and then ask if anything is unclear.

hahaha.  Hello Taz!  Are you lost?  It's always difficult when you first join a forum, I'm sure you will soon get to know your way around.  Have a look under "General Chat" for bits and pieces to join in with or "Parrot Talk" if you want to talk about your parrots.  There are loads of bits and pieces of information on here, but if you get lost or stuck, just shout and someone will be along to help.  Have fun and join in wherever you want to.

Hi and  :hiya to the forum, why don't you say hello on this part of the forum. http://www.africangreyparrotcentre.co.uk/african-grey-forum/new-members-introduce-yourself-here!/
Just click the link and it will take you there, then just click on the thread "New members introduce yourselves". Then start a new topic and say hello in that, that way more members will see your post and be able to answer your question, hope that helps
When I met my hobbits, I fell in love straight away
