Question on nail grooming
« on: November 29, 2017, 05:30:45 PM »

My hand is getting shredded by Oscars talons. First question would it be to stressful to take him to a groomer (iv had him for one week, he is a 22 year old rescue) ? I have a groomer that's 10 min from my house but I would need to crate him to get him there. Another option would be a grooming perch I was looking at "Sweet Feet and Beak Comfort Grip Natural Patented Safety Perch" . If anyone has any better solutions or perch suggestions I would love some feed back.

I donít think thereís such a thing as a bird groomer is there? Its a specialist thing to do, vets avian vets are the only ones Iíd trust but wouldnít risk it this early on. Get some nail perches, if you look at www.scarletts parrot essentials.co.uk thereís good stuff there, sheíll help you get what you need :)

It's a place that does wings beaks and nails.... They are avian specialists. I'm just scared of ruining all of our progress.

Ah right, ok then yes get lots of those kinds of perches, different widths which will be good for his foot health. Iíve never had to have my greys nails done.thru do go through a phase where they seem needle like, then a few days later they are fine
