Air sac visible after bath
« on: February 11, 2014, 07:29:27 PM »

Ok, this is somewhat nerve wrecking to admit. Frankly I'm terrified. Several days ago our 6 months baby bird got soaked during her bath and we noticed there was air sack visible through her skin on the neck. We panicked thinking there could be some birth defect. She otherwise has good appetite, is very active and fully feathered. Should I be worried? The skin although appears paper thin, is not broken, just very, very transparent.

These are perfectly normal. They aren't usually visable when dry but if wet especially when having just eaten you can see them. In baby parrots they are very visable because they are being hand-fed large amounts of food in one go and they don't have the feathers covering them.
