Cat Litter
« on: September 21, 2010, 12:47:28 AM »

Hi All
I joined this forum to warn all parrot lovers not to do what I stupidly did last week.
My Beutiful friendly CAG,  Jacko which we had for 18 years died screaming in my arms cos I put some pine scented cat litter in to his tray instead of news paper, not realising that by ingesting the pine pellets it expanded and blocked his internal organs. To hear an Ag die such a horrible death will live with me forever, so parrot lovers, please stick to news paper.
regards
 Dennis

Thank you all for the kind words of sympathy. Although the memory is still a bit raw, I was wondering wether to get another grey. The heart says yes unfortunately the mind says no, due to my age and the longevity of parrots I think it will be a no no.
Kind regards to you all

You could go for an older rehome bird, very many older birds need a caring loving home, why not think about it.
I took on to older birds and they are fab. I love em.

Well at my age , I would not want a young bird, as no way would i live another 60 years plus, it gives a bird thats not wanted a new home, and it gives you a new bird to turn around, pleasure in two ways.

Some one was wondering what to use in the bottom of the cage, paper is best.

It could cause death to her bird, as they contain toxins, newspaper is the safest proven method of keeping the cage clean, and for disinfectant we use F10.
