Toy links
« on: September 29, 2014, 06:12:27 AM »

Don't know if you all aware of this but I'll share anyways
Just lately Iv seen 2 different posts on birds gettng their feet stuck in the peardrop toy links
Both birds were ok but it could of turned out a different way
One of the birdies plucked their self bare through the stress of bein trapped
Anyways peardrop fasteners are designed to hand skinny side up to help prevent this

So go check all your cages guys as it could save your birdies life xx

great post Mandi and I did not know that. Yvie got her foot trapped in one of her toys a while ago.

thank god it happened when I was there and my husband was as I couldn't hold her and free her at the same time.

scary!

To be honest with you Mandi /Kaz a lot of the time now as those clips have  tended to rust with time & spraying on the threads making em hard to get off weve been replacing a lot of em with  electrical tie wraps & pulling em tight to the bars :cheekywink: .Then when we clean em out we find it far more easy just to cut em down coz with Fester been so cage aggressive with those metal clips we have to put our hands in the cage to get em down :panic: :panic:  That's way we get round the problem :secret:

Hi Mandi

I didn't even think about it when using some in Mamadou's cage.

A brilliant bit of advice, just goes to show what harm such a small thing can do and yet just a small amendment to the clip can make all the difference.

Thank you Mandi

Ozzy liked to play with just the links, the ones with the springy bit, not sure what they are called, anyway I saw him "chewing" on one and he seemed to be having a great time, next thing I looked over and could see he was clearly worried about something, when I spotted that he had opened the springy bit and the whole clip had wedged itself onto his bottom beak, Lukily I got there in time.  He no longer plays with them!

I wondered why the one jasper has hanging from her perch keeps coming undone, it is slightly narrower at one end, I'll have to turn that over again  :(

Good thing all the birds were OK after their mishaps. Thanks for posting mandi x
