Awe just look at them eyes :baby:
I can't add anything to what the guys have said so I won't repeat it all
But I have a question
Do you have any sturdy perches in the cage
I can't see any from the pics and there only seems to be the boing rope
He will need some near his feed bowls (stone perches are best placed here so they are used during feeding times)
And also can I ask why perch covers ??

Hi Mandi,

There are two main wooden perches... one is running the length of the cage and the other the breadth. We did have them high up initially (near the feeder bowls), but she was so clumsy on them, slipping and being very cautious (I took them off then used a wood filer on them to get them rough and still she was slipping) and I realized that I read in Lesley's information pack (I think or somewhere here) to keep the main perches down low in the first few days/weeks, so that if she falls she doesn't fall a great distance and placed some old magazines on the floor of the cage. That's why you can't see them, they're both just below the feeder bowls... but since we put the boing rope (the initial idea was to hang the rope from the roof, so she can  spend her outside time there), she doesn't touch the wooden perches... she swings the rope to get near the bowls and grabs them then perches on the bowls and eats/drinks from there...

(sandy/sand paper)Perch covers for the wooden perches that I mentioned above, 1) coz she was slipping 2) to keep her nails trimmed

And btw she is not a he :P  :dark

Also, she sleeps on the ropey/boing perch... rarely goes any where else apart from sitting on the feeding bowls when eating/drinking... And during outside time, if she's not being cuddled or sitting on our shoulders, she sits on top of the cage..

Oh and one more thing... we use wood chips in our budgies cages on the floor/tray (which hides the smell of their poo)... and we used the same in her cage too (she can't reach the bottom tray) but the smell (from her poo) is awful... is there anything else we can use? Maybe good old newspapers? + Is there a way to mask the smell?

Sorry I called her a boy :cheekkiss:
As for wood chips they said not to be safe
Most use good old fashioned news paper :)
I change mine everyday :) xx

newspaper all the way, my baby had the stinkiest poops i've ever smelt! it went right through the house too.

i'd fully recommend a heaven fresh purifier, its an expense but even if you have to wait to buy, get one, it helps to get rid of smells, dust and dander etc so well. I also have an oil diffuser which cleans & fragrances the air too.

its the food mine eats, i've changed the pellets as mine was more or less diarrhea constantly. Seems to have cleared up now, thank god! it's not nice

She is certainly adorable, and looking confident too  :flowers:

Be careful with the perch covers as she might get sore feet, could be why she won't sit on them. Can you get the sandy perches instead?

Is it normal for baby poops to smell? Never had this before x

Thanks guys... we were making a mistake with the perch covers... they're good for budgies and smaller birds but not for greys... so ordered the orthopedic/sandy perches from scarletts... 3 different pellets and some other stuff for her...

Scarlett's website and service is great but DPD (couriers) are a let-down! They were supposed to deliver it on Monday... then this morning said we'll deliver it today between 6-7pm (which would have been great) and just now emailed me that: we tried to deliver your parcel, but no one answered the door (we've been sitting literally next to the door), so we left a card (no card that I could find) etc :(

Received our delivery from scarletts. Excellent quality stuff and excellent service from them. We've re-setup the cage. Please take a look n advise us about improvements.

Many thanks

Looking good but I think you need lots more perches, that wood dowel isn't good for their feet, different sized ones all around will help her to get around the cage easier & the stone & sandy ones will keep her nails short. Watch the window too, make sure there's no draft, how's she settling in?

Yep like Kaz says it needs the other perches and perhaps a few more toys .Have a look at some of the members set ups which should give you a few good ideas :cheekywink: You have similar cage to ours and your using the seed catchers ,so do we .So when we have our two out we put newspaper in em to stop droppings hitting and sticking to em

He has the Haiti cage but also has a large play stand with a swing and ladder with toys on and is out a lot. We have a swing and a boing rope hanging from ceiling which he likes to fly between as well.

His cage has toys in as well as natural stone perch, two fixed wooden perches and a natural tree branch perch.

Is currently sat on a branch wedged into his play gym eating a green bean :-)
