Hello everyone

Hello everyone.
My name's Russ. It's my first time on this forum. I've had my pal "Charlie" for nearly nine years now. He's a happy, healthy feller, in a quite large cage. but I've just bought him an even bigger cage. Now I'm wondering if I could get him a playmate. Maybe a Budgie or something to keep him company. I'm nervous of doing this since he's always had his cage to himself. Not sure how he would react
I would welcome any advice.

Hi Russ
I'm sorry to say a budgie may not even share the same room with a grey never mind a cage
Iv seen many beaks ripped off the smaller birds by a grey
There's no guarantee your grey would get along with another grey never mind sharing its cage
I have 5 greys and all have their own cage x

Hi Russ

Its unlikely you'd ever get him a pal, it does happen but its pretty rare and especially as he's not a baby anymore.

I have a grey, 2 conure & 2 cockatiels living witg me inmy living room, they grey has her own cage, the two tiels are sisters and share a cage (they completely ignore each other too) the two conures have another cage they share.

So i have 3 large cages in my room. I have to admit i think they are all company for each other, as in they aren't lonley but none of them interact and they all avoid my grey, she would do some damage to them for sure, not because she's vicious, but just because she has a huge beak compared to their little bodies. Small birds are often maimed or killed by bigger birds, accidentally or done on purpose.

You'd need to be prepared to possibly have two cages and times when Charlie is not allowed out to give the other bird time out.

As i said, it can be done, but it could go wrong or be problematic
