Hi there
« on: April 05, 2017, 02:31:29 PM »

I'm El. I don't want to post in bereavement. Trying  to think only of good times. lost my CAG Jessie on 2/16. For 17 years he was robust, flying, cooky, we had whistling duets, we talked silly together. He was my love.

Thank you. Yes from about 3 months old. Two years ago the vet said he had normal lab work other than slight elevations from stress of visit, was very, very strong, I guess from his feet grasping her when they toweled him, and he was 450 grams. I only saw a bit of clear drool coming from his mouth while he was perching and that's it , so took him to the avian vet. Anyway she ordered a special antifungal concoction to be overnighted from pharmcy in Saratoga that deals in the race horses' prescriptions and any kind of animal medicine needed, and I gave that  to him and Sunshine Factor since it was still available at that time, and a little apple cider vinegar in baby food. He rallied even before the medication arrived. I asked the vet if he still needed the medication and she said yes. Just wondering if that medication hurt his liver and caused a downhill. I'm not getting a necropsy. I'm not dwelling on the reasons for his death anymore. he came walking up to me while I was watching the new 2 days before and said "Hi booby" like usual. There were men pounding ice off of the roof 2 days before he died and I think it traumatized him. I live in upstate NY. Before when he was robust it wouldn't have affected him. I just don't know. He was 19 when he died, found him when I got back from the grocery store, called out his name and saw the empty perch. I cried steadily for a few days, now am accepting it more, still get crying jags. I appreciate your kind words.

Thanks to both of you. It feels empty. I have my kitties and they are a comfort.
