I went today and its looking like 26th or 27th for me. Bought loads of toys, perches etc so everything can be ready and in place. We can certainly keep each other up to date and compare notes

Hi Ann-Marie Yes please Probably mean anywhere I will see parrots or parrot accessories Think I have exhausted everywhere within an hours drive now and on first name terms with all the people that work in the ones I know (slight exaggeration but you know what I mean)

How exciting.....hope you have a really big cage for him/her. I had a cage about 23" square by 50" high and Dickie seemed happy enough, then I found this Massive cage that it too wide to fit through my doors and is 6 foot high. He so loves it and all his toys. What a difference I saw in him once he had stopped sulking about the change...for 2 days he hung on the bars at the front. He doesnt like change and when I treat him to a new perch, it has to go in the same place as the old one or he will just avoid it for days. I'm not a fan of buying birds from pet shops however today my heart strings were severly pulled when I met a 6 month grey who was so friendly..he gently felt my fingers then put his head down for stroking and would have sat like that for hours if I had the time. I do hope that your baby has been spoon fed and is not afraid of people. Its a great start to have. My Dickie always fluffs up and goes to say hello (literally) to the cat and even calls him by his name. The cat is unsociable and doesnt even look up if Dickie is flying about the room.Luckily the cat is happy to be waited upon and has no interest in finding his own food. My Dickie is very sociable, this was achieved by me passing him onto other peoples hands. I get a lot of joy watching other people handle him...it is also great for when I go away for hols or weekends as I never run out of people who will to look after him and I know they will interact with him rather than just feed him...this is so important. I wish you every happiness with your new baby and whatever you do...DO NOT FEED HIM MONKEY NUTS. Lisa x

Oscar - I don't know of any other places other than a pet shop in Burnley. Don't know if I'm allowed to say this too much but there are other similar posts on here so - they have quite a selection of different birds but I really don't like it. My friend told me the other day that the birds looked really unhappy and one was in a bit of a state. I had to go in to see for myself so I did yesterday. There was a large Macaw (I think) that was in a really big cage but had only one tiny toy in there then another parrot type but i don't know what it was. It was stuck in a tiny cage with all its feathers out at the front - it was horrible to see. I was with my Mum and we had to come out as we were both upset. I am going to go back in on my own and get some pictures and see what you all think. But if you do ever get over this way please go in and have a look and then I know its not just me being over sensitive - but I'm sure its not.

Thanks Ann-Marie I am probably making the assumption that there are far more places out there to find than there really are You know something like I like parrots = everybody else must do = plenty of shops Obviously not I know what you mean about some shops that sell birds that maybe shouldn't but we mustn't discuss them either Cheers

Yeah I don't know of any - but if I find any I will let you know. I want a show or something to come up round here somewhere that I can go too - so if you hear of any please let me know.
I know what you mean but I was so upset by the birds that I feel I have to do something about it.

Hiya m8
Yep we're all up and running with the cage - no instructions though so Gordon Burns would have been proud. Went to shop on Saturday as well, came out a ton lighter in the wallet but wioth a massive bag of stuff. Glad to hear Barney is getting better, still having fun trying to catch him to give him his meds ?
