Bobbi & Rebel
« on: October 16, 2017, 06:03:24 PM »

So it seems that Bobbi and Rebel have reached maturity. Rebel is 4 in December & Bobbi will be in January.

They discovered mating about 5 days ago and have been doing it pretty much constantly (and very vocally) since then. Bobbi has always been a difficult and unpredictable bird, sometimes lovely then sheíll take a chunk out out you, she nearly bit through my lip last week, god knows what reason but sheís obviously worse during mating season.

When she is hormonal she goes under the settee and hides all night, she has chewed the wood to bits :(

Anyway now my usually sweet Rebel is demonic, the last straw was yesterday when they had both been under the settee and i noticed she was holding her foot up, I tried to see if she was hurt & she limped over & sat on my arm. Rebel then came over and started really biting me, heís taken a chunk out of my neck & when I tried to move him away he started on my hands, then Bobbi joined in! I had to throw a towel over them to be able to pick them up & put them in their cage.

I now think it was one of them who attacked Chevy and I think Rebel might have hurt Bobbiís leg in his frustration & anger.

I feel so awful because iím going to have to leave them locked in their cage until this is over, any idea how long it will last? Iíve never kept them locked in and I feel so bad but I canít trust them.

Sorry for the long post!

Oh Mandi itís awful, I hate keeping them locked in but they are just nightmares. Sounds like your sis is having the same problem, can she remove peanut? If it was one of mine that attacked Chevy theyíve really gone for it, two confined in a cage could really harm peanut. Canít wait for it to pass x

I think that's true for most parrots really, mine so far have been brilliant, well Bobbi is challenging but she'll happily sit with me,  Rebel is a sweetheart - till now! I'm sure it will pass soon enough, must be hard on them too.
