Dave our grey
« on: November 08, 2016, 04:36:26 PM »

Bare with , this is quite a hard post to make
Dave our grey ..
Before me he belonged to my aunt who got him from a local ads paper
Only question she asked when goin to buy him and his partner was "do they talk"
He was said to be round 3 yrs old but not hand reared
My aunt had him 3 yrs befor i managed to talk her into letting me take him
That was 6 years ago, he is still the little poo he was back then
He's never shown any affection to any human he's met , won't be touched or handled and has over the years attacked me , my daughter and poor peach who can't defend herself or fly away (she don't have the ability).
When we moved house early this year we hoped to put dave in a outdoor aviary , I knew this is where he would be most happy
Havin to answer to no one and can do his own thing
BUT neighbour problems put stop to that so he remained in the house still pickin on peach and us nursing her scabby keel time again
Don't get me wrong we love Dave as we do all our birds
He makes me laugh how he tells my daughter to smile each time she's in a mood
He says hello everytime I entered the room
And now and again I'd be brave enough to steel a kiss on his beak
He would allow me to carry him round on a cushion and goes in his cage for a palm nut (he has expensive taste)
Anyways the reason for my post is dave has now moved in to Humphries headquarters
They have  amazing aviary block , indoor and outdoor flights.
And now my Dave is now livin the high life doin his own thing
Yes there were tears Sunday morning when i asked him to step into his travel cage for me for the last time
He travelled so well , chirping and whistling away and I know he will be well spoiled and live life as he was intended
I can't thank Nikki and Mark enough xx

I'll leave you with a couple pictures of him Sunday morning as I was takin him and also one of him in his new aviary home xx

Aww Mandi

That was so sad to read yet I did chuckle when I read that Dave would say things just at the right moment, one thing is for sure you gave Dave the best life he could have possibly had and the fact that your neighbours complaining etc meant you couldn't put him outside where you new he would be even happier than he was inside is such a shame, but like you say he'll be living the high life in his outside flight now, and Mandi the few photos below are just one memory of Dave.

I hope your ok Mandi  :bighug:  will you be seeing Dave in the future or hearing from Nikki & Mark coz if you do I'd love to hear how he's getting on bless him.

This made me cry :( sometimes the right decision is the hardest Mandi. You've have done so much for Dave, the damage was done & irreparable before you got him.

He will be much happier without 'humans' annoying him & Peach will have a much less stressful life.

I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine with Nikki, and you'll get updates. Xx

Awww bless Dave, Mandi, must have been hard. I hope Nikki keeps in touch, as I'd like to know how he is too x

Who's the other grey in the aviary, Dave looks a bit bemused there. Will he be breeding then, as I know Nikki often keeps a female or male out of clutches?

Jules Iv been 'in touch' with Nikki for years
As you know she was the breeder of Treacle
And I wouldn't of trusted just anyone with Dave

As for the pic , his eyes clearly show the pic Is took of a evening in dimmer lighting , dave never gives too much away with his look :P
He's in a aviary with a couple of birds and as for the breeding if that happens or not I'm happy
He is livin a life closer to what nature intended
He will have room to fly around and little human intervention (he don't crave human contact)
Nikki will give him the best life I know :) xx
