Water bowls
« on: November 22, 2016, 02:53:04 PM »

Hi

Over the last week or so Mamadou has literally started throwing his water bowl everywhere yes at times I must say he's soaked me if I'm next to the cage ,  I'm wondering what bowls others use I put his bowl in that you screw in place but now what he does is pulls down on it and let's it go and of course the water goes everywhere, what ain't helping i think is it is a loose fitting on the cage side so he's actually turned it into a game I'm thinking of getting the small lock bowls but was wondering what other bowls people use.

After your message Kaz I thought blimey I still have the bowls that came with the cage that slot into the gate on the side, so I put that in and as you can see he just does it with that one now the little sausage.

Lol the little bugger! Mine have like a lip over the bowl near the door so they can't really go anywhere.

If the screw in part of the bowls you've added are just the large silver washers get a couple of pieces of plastic/Perspex a couple of inches wide & tall & drill holes the size of the screwhole & use those as well as the washers. It might restrict the movement of the bowl.

That's a good point Kaz I will give that a try, coz really what I need to stop as much as poss is the movement coz I think that's his game now so the less movement on the bowl will help so your idea I think would help in that.

I got the idea from one of Mandi's toys, I got hubby to make me a few as the bars on my cages are just slightly too wide for the normal washers, they make toys attach much sturdier

Tony is there a rim around the top of the bowl
Like a bracket
I drilled holes in our bowls (well Karl did) and then put quick links over the rim the bowl sits in and then through the bowl
Or the lockable bowls from Scarlett's will work or teach him to drink from a water bottle x

Well it's funny you said say that about the water bottle Mandi coz I remembered that you have one so my daughter is coming over tomorrow so she's gonna take me to the local pet shop to get one coz I think that could help as well also I'm gonna give yours and Kaz's ideas ago. I think I will also order a lockable bowl from Scarlett's.

Fester does the same in the cage at the caravan .
In fact he picks the full bowl up in his beak walks along the perch then throws the lot !!!
😈😈😈😈😁😁😁
Thought I had put a vid up of this in the summer .
So 3 weeks ago at Newark we bought two swivel and lock pots for 5 each for this summer at the caravan

So I managed to get a water bottle but it's not good enough for Mamadou simply coz he coz he pulled the pipe out of the bottle, but I'm pleased in one way that he was happy to drink from it so I'm gonna have to get the normal water bottle that you would use for like a rabbit hutch coz this was a slightly different design in that it was square and the pipe went thru the bars but as I say he pulled the pipe out.

Hi Mandi

That's ordered have you used the clip that will come with it Mandi or have you used another form of clip to hold it on the cage, that's certainly a better bottle than the one I first got.

I use the clip that comes with it
It's like a long spring that hooks on the cage

I really need to look into some of the replies as Lyla takes great pleasure in throwing her water bowl from her cage my short term fix has been to fold a sheet of newspaper and wrap around the bowl to wedge it in. The water bowl on my kings travel cage works perfect.
