I am starting to think this wasn't thought through but she is here now and I will have to learn quickly :) please help advice welcome what is the best food etc that I can get her and toys etc?

Please don't panic , your body language can be picked up on
No your life will never be the same but we hope it will be in a good way
Iv had my greys 3 n half year and they still give me the same feelings they did on day one , yes I'm besotted (or slightly crazy)
Take time to get to know Joy, stick around here and we will offer any help we can
Can I ask why you decided to bring a grey into your life?

Toys food etc take a look here , you won't find much cheeper and the people that own it are fantastic , they own birds themselves so know exactly what it's like
www.scarlettsparrotessentials.co.uk
Have a look at the animal zone feeds fruity chunks and Musili are usually easily excepted , though I know supply's are low at minute cause the manufacturer has changed (I think)
If you get stuck giz a shout and ill find the direct links x

This is entirely the wrong answer .... I got her because I thought she would be company for my elderly mother as the web days they like attention and love tobe with you ....now I have got her home I am going Ooops maybe not the best for mum so the answer is I got her for all the wrong reasons you could imagine and should. Have done more research but she is here now so I need to do the best I can

I personally wouldn't advise a grey baby for any elderly person as they live a hell of a long time
But like you say she is here now and you will do your best

Thanks and apologies for the spelling this iPad and my big fingers don't match.... It's a steep learning curve although Parrot food bought cuttle fish iodine fruit veg seed but pellets ordered sand and toys too.  Is there any advice that you wish you had been told at the beginning that would make life easier and help her although she seems to be friendly enough but would like her to enjoy her life so any pearls of wisdom???

You don't need to give sand and cuttlefish.  Parrots crack the husks of seeds and eat the inside, if you give sand and cuttlefish it can impact in their crop.  Iodine?  what's that for?  If you are going to feed pellets then there is no need for supplements, just give fresh fruit a couple of times a week and veg every day, that will be fine until you fine your feet with him a little bit more.  Seed is ok as a treat but not much good as a complete diet because they only pick out what they want, which is usually the fatty sunflower seeds.  I give my two seeds on a Sunday, Sunday is treat day lol.   Have a look in the diet section and see what is good to give but let him get settled in a little bit first before you start changing things.

being Coco's guardian was a learning curve we were lucky Coco's breeder was excellent he let us meet some of his flock to see how we interacted with them he took no deposit as it was done on trust we visited coco 6 times before she came to live with us her breeder lived 80 mile round trip away there were local breeders but its about trust, trust in the parent birds and the care for 12 weeks the chick received.

I prefer the term Guardian than Owner but thatís just me

What makes a good parrot owner? For me it's an overwhelming love and passion for these beautiful creatures, and a fascination for the species, but all you really need is love ... oh and a spare income helps lol

Steve under the little window looks a great place to put the cage
As for 'direct sunlight'
The uv won't filter through a window anyways so a uv lamp is really a must
Have you looked on Scarletts for a cage etc
Best prices around and great service

This is debatable
But without uv they can not process calcium
My vet told me unless they can get outdoors for 30mins everyday of their life's then it's a must
They seem expensive to begin with but the bulbs are then around £30 and will last you the winter months
So to me the benefits outway
Iv seen many greys have fits and it's been put down to low calcium x
