5 year old African grey for sale to a loving home
« on: March 25, 2014, 09:54:05 PM »

We have our 5 year old African grey (missy) for sale due to a break up, she is still living with my ex & I have had to move to a spare room at my parents house :(

My ex doesn't get on with missy & has no interest in her. My ex also goes out to work everyday so missy is on her own all day.

We have no option but to let her go. I would prefer a member on here or somebody who has been recommended to have her so I can rest assured that she will have a happy loving forever home. This is one reason why I haven't advertised her on sites like preloved.

She is a happy little bird who steps up & doesn't mind a tickle. She talks & whistles all different things, much the same as any grey really. I would describe her as a good bird, she talks a good talk but also has her quiet times when she wants to chill. She also likes going to bed at night & if you haven't covered her up when it's getting to bed time she tells you "goodnight, see you in the morning".

No hatch certificate but she does have a ring on her foot.

We have a large cage + toys & around 8kg of Hagen tropican lifetime granules.

500 inc cage & food.

oh what a shame reggie, is missy is on her own, can you not get her out and have her in your room at your parents house? assuming you might one day get your own place again. i wouldn't rush into anything you might regret x

Yeah that's an awful situation, such a shame but a relationship break up doesn't necessarily mean a rehome, as Jules says is there any way you can keep missy? It would be lovely for her if you could? Even foster for a while till you know what's going on in your life?

I have no room here for missy, I'm stuck in a tiny box room & my parents won't have her. I'm looking for work so no idea on when I will get my own place, my life has been turned upside down :(

So sorry to hear this Reggie, Jules an kaz that's a good idea, maybe long term foster is a good option at the moment instead of re-home? Where are you based? X

Sorry to hear you can't keep her Reggie. As I have said on the forum before we are thinking of another bird to add to our bird room. Chewy is 6 years old and is a solo bird and I jokingly asked him if he wanted a gf and he said yes. I don't know if this is coincidence or not but he needs a friend. I have told my hubby about Missy, and he seems very interested. However the main carer is me as I am always at home now.  You may want to try long term foster like others have suggested first. I will get back to you on our decision. Xxx

Aww I hope it's a good home! Xxx
My thoughts are with you Reggie. Hope you be able to at least say goodbye to her before she goes to her new home.

I didn't get a chance to say goodbye as me & Kate weren't really on the best of talking terms at the weekend. First I heard about it was in a text saying she had gone. Probably the best way though as I would not have liked to see her go :(

I'm not even sure who she went to as kate hasn't told me anything, we're not talking much. I think though that she may have gone to an elderly chap who had a grey that died at 49 years old & he missed his so his son wanted missy for his dad. If that's the case then she should be well looked after as from what Kate told me they knew about greys. They had offered quite a bit less money than Kate asked for but I had told kate if she thought it was a good home then let them have her as that was more important. I trust kate would have done that for us all, even though Kate didn't get on with missy she too wanted her to go to a good home over money.
