For Sale African Grey
« on: August 13, 2013, 07:36:39 PM »

 :cry2:
4 years ago I was fortunate to be able to purchase one of Paula's babies,  :egg

But due to Personal  Circumstances its with deep regret that we have had to make the decision  to sell our beloved African Grey Dolly, which i can tell you breaks our hearts.  :cry2:

She is very friendly  steps up and likes to come out of her cage for lots of cuddles. She  Talks (for England) and picks things up very quickly and very messy just like any other AG , when she is out of the cage she will usually fly back to the cage when she wants to poop.

I do have the hatch certificate but she has not been DNA tested.

She will come complete with her cage and toys.

As you are on this Forum i am sure I don't have to make you aware that African greys have a life span of appox 50+ years and please only make enquires if you can offer Dolly a forever loving home.

I have lots of pictures of when she was an hatchling and if you are genuinely interested will send these to you,
 :ty :cry2:

Wel,sad day for you Leigh ,

You will never get anyone that loves you more by the sound of your bird , ok don't know your circumstance .

But would, you get rid of,your child ,  sorry to sound harsh here , but I'm sick fed up of parrots lost   Or even worse the, dying , there just seems to,be a lot going on just now and it really upsets me .

I know,my Pablo, will love me after bill has run away with blonde bomb shell , I would never part with my Pablo for any reason, as I,say ou have not mentioned circumstances , but I'm afraid my birds come first

Hello Leigh. Really sorry to hear about Dolly.  I am sure if you do decide to part with her you will find her that loving home.   It must be really bad for you to have to make that decision and I also understand what Karen is saying too.  But when it comes down to it, you have to make the right choice for the bird.

I wish you all the very best and do feel for you all at this difficult time.

I'm sorry this is going to sound harsh but as Karen says, you don't just get rid of children, and that's effectively what were dealing with and you especially don't sell them.

What has happened that you need to rehome the AG?

Come on now people.....I think you are being a bit harsh here. We don't know the circumstances.
I love my greys an awful lot but if I was ever in a position where I was unable to give them a good life and look after them properly I would try to find someone that could. I would be devastated if it ever came to this but I think the animal always has to come first.
My heart goes out to anyone in this position....I can't imaging how hard it must be :(

Like I said it is personal circumstances , and what gives any of you the rite to judge me!!!

I thought by putting her for sale on a trusted site I would be sure she would go to a loving forever home, it seems i am wrong and all people on this site seem to do is criticise other people

It took me a long time to put her for sale on this site due to this is where I had her from, I certainly wont be returning to this site.

Thank you Charlie and Hugo you seem to understand my situation.

It wasn't my intention to judge you at all, I personally can't foresee any reason I would sell my Yvie other than her well being and of course I don't know your reasons, but you clearly don't want to sell her.

We have a member on here who was selling his bird because of family issues, the family didn't like the bird, and other issues, it was heart breaking, but he decided against selling and now the bird is a huge part of the family.

So as we all know the birds are very sensitive and suffer when they are moved about so I hoped there may be a way around it.

Went through a similar thing a few years back, gone from a 4 bed detached house to a homeless hostel when a relationship broke down. I never saw my dogs and African grey again. I hindsight I wouldn't have been able to house my dogs even if he would have handed them over. You're right no one knows whats round the corner. Feel sad for you :0(((

Life certainly throws curve balls that no one really anticipates. Sometimes some of us have the ability to overcome those circumstance and sometimes we simply don't.

It takes a very brave decision or coming to a realisation that giving away to a home that would look after your pet as good as you intended to and is no matter of shame.

Lets not make it any more difficult than it already must be at the end of the day it is about the parrot finding a good home that will hopefully dull the pain or parting.

I bought a parrot last year under such circumstances, i could genuinely feel the pain the family felt on the day of transfer.

If i can help in any way please contact me by pm.

Leigh I don't know your circumstances but would it be a option to put Dolly in foster care so to speak?
I for one would offer this kind of service
I arranged a sale of a grey once through a friend, then the lady's life turned around for the better and she wishes she would of just asked someone to care for her grey till she was sorted
It could be a option and if things don't turn out then maybe rehome x

That's nice Mandi, I was thinking of offering the same thing as my dog is currently with a foster carer while I get out of this flat (no dogs allowed) she has been a godsend to me and I move on Saturday, so it could be a good idea till things change for you as they will inevitably do :0))

Hi Leigh nice to meet you, I'm sorry your having to make this decision I really hope things work out for you. I really feel for you i do cos i no it would break my heart if i had to rehome mine.

Mandi that is a brilliant idea about the fostering, I think that's something I would do in time but not yet as I don't feel like I'm ready to take on that responsibility. Plus I need a lot more knowledge as I think it's different when it's your own.

Leigh I hope something comes your way for Dolly, fingers crossed for you xxx
