well Dave has now been with us for 7month, progress is very slow, but considering he came from a small cage, no toys, rubbish diet and ignored most of the time cause he

dont talk

i think he is doin quite well
we cant yet handle him and im not quite yet brave enough to even try for a out of cage tickle
he wil take treats out my hand in or out the cage but thats as far as i get
wel tonight whilst he was playing with his favorite toy i put my finger in for a tickle, he stil flinches as i dont think he realises what we trying to do, but i got the longest one iv had so far

Aaww thats a smashing vid, I'm sure it wont be long before he's tame and trusting, the way he put his feet through the cage so that you could touch him, that is lovely.

he has always done the feet thing, though you do sometimes have to watch him as he wil real you in with beak open

iv only been bitten by him once and that was enough and i think thats made me a little too wary, i think i just ought to grit my teeth and be braver

You have changed Daves life completly I remember when you 1st got him. He has a brilliant life with you

If anyone can tame Dave you can Mandy

You are 1 very determined person. im sure you will get there, you work so hard with them.

Well he seems more out going than Charlie, and that little bugger has made me bleed a fair bit, but i allow him on my shoulder, because (fingers crossed) he has never biten me whilst he has been on me, but getting him on me I use a perch, and stroke him on the perch first, then he jumps onto me, and does a mousey squeaky noise and then he's okay

But him doing that with his feet is cute.

dont let the vid fool you, 2mins after he was dieing to take my finger off

Geoff Dave also does the mousey wince type noise too, but i cant say iv ever had him sat on me, im just not very brave around him after he flew at my head a few times

il get there im sure, we wil grow together if it takes me the rest of my life xx

Great vid Mand, it's obvious he likes you, even if he does want to take
chunks out of you at times

Yes well you do it at the pace you want, But Charlie had not been handled or had freedom for years, and I wanted that to change, so I was willing to bleed a little in the process, and get him round. and its working. but I just swear a lot , under my breath. I'll get there with him eventually.

You'e probably tried it already mandy but a perch for him to step onto? Then you can carry him round and take him where you go.

If Nico is holding her fav treat as I carry her she doesn't nip

Mandy, as you know ive only had jojo since july 18th, i dont know a lot about his past, just that he was fed on bird seed and softmints!!!, He now does,nt have any seed and is fully on pellets and veg, mash etc....i also dont think he spent anytime out of his cage or was handled. I can get jojo out and around the house on a perch, and he has flown at my head too!, i just shut my eyes but he just likes to sit there! He has been on my arm, im hoping to get him a harness soon, and maybe get him to wear it, but the same as you i kinda fear the bites too!!...

we do use a perch but he dont get on it without a fuss and a few laps of the room, weve even put part of a bottle on the end to protect fingers, when i say he aint tame , boy do i mean it

so carrying him round on one wont be a easy task

when he comes out he just does his own thing and my eyes are like a hawk

That is such a lovely video, love the way he likes to have his feet tickled.. you will get there Mandy, 7 months is such a short time in a greys life, he will get better im sure, (ark at me, parrot tamer)

Well sounds silly, But got him to step up on a Perch, when he was on, I would walk quickly and twist the perch to keep him busy, then touch him, only quick this I repeated every 15 or so minutes, and kept doing the same till he got used to me touching his back neck all over, then did it standing still. then touching him longer, now I can hold his wing open for 5-7 seconds. It has been a repetative thing but , I got results, (but he cant fly so was easier).

I love it! The bit where he has both feet through the bars and you are giving his feet a tickle and he is bobbing his head up and down...made me laugh, he looks like a right character.

Well done getting as far as you have, I'm sure he will be interacting more every day.
