Headbanger
« on: September 11, 2014, 03:27:36 AM »

Hey all.

As per my posts in other sub-forums, I am having a little grey named Gnasher moving in with us in a couple of weeks and we go visit him every other day to get him used to us. My question in particular relates to headbanging or headtapping that he does.

When we want to get Gnashers attention, or even come to us, we would tap our hands on the table or chair or whatever. Now he does come over, but once at a certain distance (say a couple hands width away) and then bang his beak on the table. Like he completely points his head downwards and then starts going at it for about 10 seconds.

In my naivety regarding birds, I mistook it for childish games (I called it band as it coincided with me tapping the table like a drum) but in honesty, I have no idea what he is doing or what it means.

Any insight is good and as always, my sincere thanks in advance!

Just so long as he can't injure himself doing it. And also there wasn't some special meaning or its a special way of communicating
