How not to do it....

I know why they don't allow comments or voting this is a perfect example of a parrot in distress and complete erosion of trust.

Wow, might handle my chickens like that but never ruby, she has to want to do the things I ask or it doesn't happen till she's ready. Poor thing looks scared out of its mind, or is it just me?

It's not just you I so was going to comment then found I couldn't. You can hear a real threat growl during most of it, pretty sure they're holding toes too. OK sometimes towelling is the only way to go, I'm not even adverse to a little bit of force myself(Normally trying to look at their wings, need to find a way to train it in) but this is pure distress.

I bet the owner still can't handle him/her and the biting has got worse.

I started to then stopped, the poor thing was terrified. I wish we could comment. It's pure ignorance of how to treat that bird :(

I saw this and had to turn it off after about 2 minutes in, disgusting!!! These people should not have anything to do with birds, absolute cruelty and disrespect for this animal.  Quite raged by this clip.

D'you know, I was researching Greys when I knew I was getting Barnacle, and I came across this on youtube.

At the time (knowing absolutely nothing) I thought this CAN'T be right…..

I thought this was a training video but I was so shocked. Poor bird is forced to come out :(

But out of curiosity, does the distraction with the other hand really work?

A parrot that lives with you is not a pet or a companion. Neither is the parrot a friend.  Your parrot becomes your family. A child that never grows up :)

Well it gives them something else to fear I wouldn't call it a distraction personally.

As for training yeah this is the bit that got me this is not training it sells it's self as a training video though.

Its awful, she hacks his flights off first so the poor thing has no choice but to step up!
When bobby shed all her flight feathers she was a completely different bird she had no confidence whatsoever and wouldn't want to be taken away from her cage it broke my heart.
