How To File Claws
« on: April 21, 2011, 07:23:02 PM »

To file Charlie's claws I make it into a game, a few times a day, when he's in his cage we play Tickle Toe Toes.......the reason for that is, it gets him used to me grabbing his toes and playing with them, so when they need filing, it's not unusual for him......here's a video clip to show what I mean.....make it fun!

Those perches help, but they don't get all the claws done properly, you will still have to file down the sharp bits sometimes.  So it's handy to be able to do that through the bars.

    I used to do that with Charlie as well, but as we play tickle toes anyway, I thought it was a good way of getting them filed at the same time.

Hi pat

Thank you very much for the video link I will try this cos they do hurt when they are too long and I have various perches that claim to file them and keep them smooth but they don't work they just sharpen them!
