I Want To Come Upstairs Mom
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:22:32 PM »

Our Billy is desperate to come upstairs! He shouts"hello" over and over again when we're up there so i have to keep leaving what I'm doing to talk to him (not that i mind, rather be chatting than bed making). I want to know if he would be able to climb the stair, He can't fly as he man before cut off his flight feathers and they've never grown back, he wont sit on my shoulder or step up. I sit at the top while he's at the bottom having a sing and a chat. Should i keep calling him to 'come to mommy' or is it to much to expect him to climb all the way up? ;cheers:

If his feet are intact, no missing nails, and the stairs are carpeted, then there's no physical reason why he couldn't climb them. Whether or not he'll be able to work that out is a different matter!

Maybe get some thick rope for him to climb up and lay it on the stairs when needed??

Have you tried sitting on the first step and putting a treat on it and encouraging him? But is you can't handle him once he's up will he be able to get down ???

Does he not step up so you can carry him?
(Im guessing not )

My stairs are wooden, would be hard to climb them. But carpeted should be ok. Be intersting to hear if you can help to teach him to do it
