« on: October 07, 2011, 10:44:08 AM »

well looks like we are doing well with step up but getting off is another matter lol, apollo is on my hand and when i take him over the to play area and tell him go play and off you get, he just runs up my arm and sits on my shoulder as if to say are you joking you made me get on you now im staying lol, he just wants to sit on your sholder all day, i am a scared when hes up there as its a bit to close to my face for my liking, so how do i stop him going up on the shoulder,

When you want him to go on his playstand, have you tried saying step up again while your hand is next to the playstand?

The easiest way to get him off your shoulder is to stop him going up there in the first place.  When he sits on your hand, keep your elbow tucked in and your hand pointing away from your body, he can't climb up your arm then, if he tries to, just make him step up on your other hand.

I do what Pat suggested, keep my arm bent.

The stand is maybe a bit scary for him so just stand beside it and touch it and talk softly sounding enthusiastic, then try to encourage him to go on using a treat.
Might take a while but he'll get curious enough to do it eventually I'm sure!

If he does step onto the playstand make sure you give him lots of praise and a treat so he knows its a fun place to be
