You can use your birdies favorite foods as long as it's parrot safe, I use a small piece of fruit or a little bit of a nut
But I always make sure I give lots of praise and tickles too.

Hya, I use chopped nuts from Tesco, or you could cut a sunflower seed in half and give half at a time.  I don't bother with a clicker because I found I needed another hand, also Charlie was learning the click sound.  I just use my voice and praise him up really good when he's done something right.  What are you going to start training him to do?  Stick training is the best one to start with, have a look in the training section there are videos in there.

We got a clicker and my Thabo heard it, looked at it and went " AND" so I totally use praise for him now and thats what I'm doing with my rehome too, Kato makes a screech which I ignore but when he says something nice I praise him a lot, others may give treats but for me I don't apart from kind words

I use small pieces of paper as charlie loves paper more than food treats

KYA is a funny eater I've been watching her eat but there isn't`t anyone thing that she likes? i wanted to use your idea pat of taking that item away just for treats. I have not tried nuts what about monkey nuts out of the shell as i know what the shell can do. Want to have ago at stick training looks fun. She can step up high 5 and turn 360 on your fingers oh and she likes french lingo

I use shelled sunflower seeds for small training and reward for positive behaviour together with words - for larger steps like getting back into his cage i use an almond. Peanuts are used rarely and under no circumstance do i have the nuts with the shell on as he loves to rip the shell into tiny pieces.

I use pieces of walnut - I find that all three of mine love these, and will, within reason do as they are asked for a piece

Also of course, a treat doesn't have to be anything to eat - it could be just your voice in a specific nice tone, so that he knows he has done something right - often that kind of praise is treat enough - and maybe accompanied with some lovely tickles
