Hi, I would say if you feel he is not himself maybe get him checked out by an avian vet just to be safe, Greys can go down hill very quickly! If he is eating fine still then i wouldn't think he is ill. You can email me at Paula@african-grey-parrots.co.uk
Thanks

Macaws? Macaws?

Let's get this straight, the Macaw trains YOU. Not the other way around. LOL.

Having cohabitated with a Macaw for well over 10 years, I'm not recommending them for the uninitiated. Some species are more friendly and trainable than others. I have a female Harlequin and she's a monster to me (3 trips to hospital for plastic surgery, staples and stiches) when "our" husband is home. They bond generally to one person and then tolerate the others. I was her original handler and then came puberty, now I'm the other woman.

They can be very very noisy, too. Destructive to wood furniture. And precociously sneaky.

Would I ever give her up? Not ever.

She's a good speaker for a Macaw. Generally quiet. Loves the cats, especially our elderly cat. Has a great sense of humor--tells jokes and laughs. Also lies too when she gets in trouble. Would kill for pasta. Eats with a fork when inclined. And frequently reminds me that my husband is her "lover" while blowing kisses at him.

The key thing to remember is 1. High maintenance and 2. it's like having a 4 year old forever.
