Well now the house is nice and quiet … well nearly … it was lovely to hear from my Dad yesterday when he called me to tell me how Mai was getting on … and I am pleased to say that all is well and she has settled in very nicely.
It was a little bit concerning because she’s been plucking herself so we wasn’t sure whether this move would just make it worse or whether it would settle her down, I’m pleased to say it’s the latter and she seems to be much better so far anyway … I guess it’s a little early to REALLY tell for sure.
She did share a cage with Ruby another Congo African Grey, which is why things were particularly noisy, they would squabble a lot (Though they also got on very well at other times) and more recently we noticed Mai had plucked feathers on top of her head which there’s no way on this earth she could have done so it must have been Ruby doing it.
So hopefully the plucking was because she was being picked on and it depressed her … African Greys are just so human like is unbelievable, imagine how you or I feel when we’re getting bullied or knocked down … not very nice is it!! Well we’ve taken her out of that situation now so hopefully she will come out of herself stop plucking and be happy.
We’ll keep you up to date on her progress … everyone keep your fingers crossed she does well
